Our map snoods were developed when several regional wholesalers of our outdoor books and maps asked for other products they could sell into the same visitor and tourist market. Typical outlets included outdoor shops, garden centres, supermarkets, Tourist Information Centres and gift shops. Product research soon made it clear that, across a range of similar potential products, there was better demand for snoods, with better margins, than for most other related goods.
Early sales by wholesalers across North Wales and the Lake District soon proved there was a ready market for our unique blend of licensed Ordnance Survey and vintage mapping and multi-functional headwear. The wholesalers asked us to extend their regional ranges, and soon afterwards, we branched out into other areas.
